About us

The M.Sc. Course provides advanced skills for professional practice in the manifold fields of Environmental Engineering, including the hydraulic safeguard of the environment, sanitary engineering, the use of renewable energy, and the mitigation of the effects of climate change.

The M.Sc. Course includes four different curricula:

  • REsilience to climAte CHange effects (REACH) curriculum – taught in English (*)
  • Territorial Curriculum
  • Environmental System Design Curriculum
  • Renewable Energies curriculum

REsilience to climAte CHange effects (REACH) curriculum (*)

Language: English

This Curriculum aims at training expert professionals capable of operating in a reality where climate changes increasingly impact on the management of water resources, on the safeguard of the environment, and on soil protection. The environmental engineers graduating in this curriculum will be able to analyse problems, build models to support decisions, plan and design actions and operations of natural and territorial interest to mitigate the effects of climate changes, as well as in ordinary contexts, using modern, innovative and inter-disciplinary approaches, techniques and tools. Starting from a reinforcement of previous bases in mathematics, hydraulics, sanitary engineering, applied geology, and hydraulic constructions, in this curriculum the topics related to climate dynamics, the impact of climate changes on aquatic ecosystems, the sustainable use of water resources in urban and agricultural environments, fluvial hydraulics and related hydraulic protection works and the use of satellite data are especially developed.

Territorial Curriculum

Language: Italian

This curriculum aims at training expert professionals in the fields of environmental engineering more strictly linked to the design of infrastructures to protect the territory from hydrogeological risk and of systems for depolluting water, air, and soil. Starting from a reinforcement of previous bases in mathematics, hydraulics, hydrology, sanitary engineering, geotechnics, thermal physics, pumps and turbines, in this curriculum the topics related to fluvial hydraulics and related hydraulic protection works, to the analysis of environmental pollution phenomena and the design and management of environmental quality monitoring and control systems are especially developed.

Environmental System Design Curriculum

Language: Italian

This curriculum aims at training expert professionals in the fields of environmental engineering more strictly linked to the design and management of urban water treatment and distribution systems and waste management. Starting from a reinforcement of previous bases in mathematics, hydraulics, hydrology, sanitary engineering, geotechnics, thermal physics, pumps and turbines, the topics related to advanced techniques for the purification of drinkable water, to the treatment of wastewater, and to the design of urban water systems are especially developed.

Renewable Energies curriculum

Language: Italian

This curriculum aims at training expert professionals in the fields of environmental engineering more strictly linked to the design and integration into the environment of energy production systems from renewable sources. This curriculum, starting from a reinforcement of previous bases in mathematics, hydraulics, hydrology, sanitary engineering, geotechnics, thermal physics, pumps and turbines, provides knowledge on electrical systems, electrical machines and energy, to allow analysing all the aspects related to the development of systems to reduce energy usage and to exploit hydroelectric, wind, solar and biomass energy sources.
